Catalogue of an exhibition of drawings at the Sir Robert Martin Hall Gallery, Loughborough University, October 2020.

One of the most interesting and important exhibitions of contemporary art ever held in Loughborough – the curator has assembled a fascinating and diverse selection of contemporary drawings to answer the question, What is a drawing? Works by Takako Saito, Simon Patterson, Richard Deacon, Elizabeth Price, Janette Parris, Jacqueline Donachie, Eileen Cooper, Nigel Hall, Michael Landy, Lala Meredith-Vula, Stuart Taylor, Vincent Rattray, Jonathan Meuli, Nick Aikman, John Atkin, Michael Shaw, Craig Richardson, Soheila Sokhanvari, Sasha Bowles, Amikam Toren. An essay by Phillip Lindley contextualises these works historically, offers an overview of the nature of drawing in the 21st century and raises provocative questions.
